BioPharmaChem Skillnet in collaboration with Innopharma Education has successfully launched its QQI Level 5 Essentials for Pharmaceutical Manufacturing programme, providing learners with the essential skills required to enter the highly regulated bio-pharma and chemical processing sectors. Following the success of the inaugural cohort, the programme is now accepting expressions of interest for the 2026 intake.

Designed for adults seeking to begin a career in BioPharma manufacturing, or for operators and technicians aiming to formalise their experience with a recognised Level 5 qualification, the programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical insights into manufacturing operations, chemical processes, bioprocessing, and compliance under GMP/GDP standards. English language proficiency at B2+ level (or equivalent) is required.

Comprehensive Curriculum for a Regulated Industry

The nine-month, part-time programme is structured to equip participants with both operational and transversal skills. Core modules include:

  • Cleanroom Operations & Plant Utilities (15 FET)
  • Continuous Improvement & Sustainability (5 FET)
  • Quality, GMP/GDP & Health & Safety (15 FET)
  • Personal Effectiveness & Transversal Skills (5 FET)
  • Data & Digital Processing Skills (10 FET)

Participants also select one elective, either Principles & Practice of Chemical Processing (10 FET) or Principles & Practice of Bioprocessing (10 FET), enabling them to tailor learning to their career ambitions. Hands-on training and exposure to real manufacturing environments complement the structured learning.

Flexible and Accessible Learning

Classes are delivered part-time, one evening per week with occasional Saturday sessions, offering flexibility for working learners. While the full programme fee is €4,950, subsidised rates applied in 2025 at €1,950, with potential variations for 2026.

Funding is available through Skillnet for eligible employer-paid or self-employed applicants, though public-sector employees and organisations outside the Republic of Ireland can enrol directly through Innopharma Education.

A Stepping Stone into BioPharma Careers

With strong demand following the first cohort, the 2026 intake presents a timely opportunity for learners to gain recognised qualifications and the practical skills required to contribute effectively in regulated manufacturing environments. The programme provides a pathway not just to employment but to career progression within the growing BioPharma sector.
