Chemist Warehouse is accelerating its Irish expansion with the opening of its 16th store at Wexford Retail Park this weekend, creating 22 new jobs and signalling sustained growth in Ireland’s competitive healthcare retail market.
The discount pharmacy chain, which first entered Ireland in 2020, plans to open three additional outlets before year-end, reinforcing its strategy to widen access to affordable healthcare products and services. The Wexford site will employ three full-time pharmacists and three managerial staff, underlining the company’s focus on maintaining clinical expertise alongside its discount model.
Colin Galligan, CEO of Chemist Warehouse Ireland, said the move into Wexford reflects both strong regional demand and the company’s confidence in the Irish retail landscape. “Expanding into Wexford has been a natural step in our mission to bring value, convenience and trusted healthcare services to more people in the South-East,” he said.
With more than 500 jobs created nationwide across stores in Dublin, Cork, Meath, Carlow, Louth and Limerick, Chemist Warehouse’s Irish operations continue to blend affordability with professional service. The retailer’s steady expansion demonstrates how budget-driven healthcare providers are reshaping the market amid rising consumer demand for cost-effective pharmaceutical care.
