Orion GXP Consulting and Clinigen were named winners of the Best Strategic Partnership award at the Life Sciences Industry Awards 2026, held on 28th May at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry. The recognition celebrated a partnership formed to protect patient access to Gliadel®, a life-extending oncology treatment whose continued availability depended on swift and decisive regulatory action.
When supply disruption threatened access to Gliadel®, Clinigen and Orion GXP came together to form a strategic partnership built on shared regulatory accountability. Rather than treating the challenge as a problem to be managed separately by each organisation, the two companies committed to a genuinely collaborative approach, one where responsibility for compliance and continuity was held jointly rather than passed between parties.
That collaboration translated into rapid, tangible action. The partnership established Irish import and batch certification capability at pace, a process that in ordinary circumstances can take considerable time to put in place. By moving quickly and decisively, Orion GXP and Clinigen prevented a disruption to supply that could otherwise have left patients without access to a treatment with no straightforward substitute.
The outcome extended well beyond crisis management. The partnership delivered a fully compliant EU supply route, ensuring that the solution put in place was not a temporary fix but a durable foundation for continued access. In doing so, the collaboration created lasting regulatory and commercial impact, establishing a model for how strategic partnerships can resolve complex supply chain vulnerabilities in the life sciences sector.
The judging panel's recognition of this partnership reflects the value of organisations choosing collaboration over isolation when patient access is at stake, a principle that resonates well beyond this single case, and one that speaks to the kind of partnership-driven thinking the life sciences industry increasingly requires.
