Victoria Ramos of Grifols Worldwide Operations, Ltd was named winner of the Best Finance Leadership award at the Women in Pharma Awards 2026, held last 29th April at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry. The win recognised her leadership in transforming how the company manages one of its most critical financial processes: capital expenditure approval.
Efficient CAPEX request management is a significant challenge in the pharmaceutical industry, where investments often reach substantial amounts and require careful oversight to protect both compliance and commercial value. Prior to Victoria's initiative, Grifols relied on a manual email-based process to manage these requests, a system that, while functional, lacked the structure needed to support fast, transparent, and well-informed decision-making at scale.
Under Victoria's leadership, that manual process was replaced with a SharePoint-based system built on Power Automate, fundamentally changing how CAPEX requests move through the organisation. The new system centralised data that had previously been scattered across email threads, introduced automated approval workflows, and incorporated BI dashboards that gave decision-makers real-time visibility into the status and impact of capital investments.
The results were felt across the organisation. Accuracy improved as manual data entry and email-based tracking were replaced with structured digital workflows. Transparency increased, with stakeholders able to see exactly where a request stood in the approval process at any given time. And, perhaps most significantly, decision-making improved, as finance leaders gained access to consolidated data and dashboards that supported faster, better-informed judgement calls on significant capital outlays.
The judging panel's recognition of Victoria's work reflects the broader value of finance leadership that goes beyond managing numbers, leadership that re-engineers process, builds transparency, and strengthens the foundation on which strategic decisions are made.
