Lisburn-based medical imaging company Cirdan Imaging is creating 72 new jobs as part of a £12.9m (€15.1m) investment to expand its laboratory information system and accelerate international sales growth, according to BBC News NI. The Northern Ireland life sciences firm, which develops equipment and software to support diagnosis in cancer and other diseases, will use the investment to differentiate its product offering from competitors in global markets.
BBC News NI reported that new roles will include AI engineers, software engineers and clinical laboratory analysts, alongside the expansion of sales and technical onboarding teams, reflecting the company's focus on building both product capability and commercial reach.
Hugh Cormican, chief executive of Cirdan Imaging, said the investment represents another step up in the gears to expand the business, adding that the company aims to sell more of our products to more countries around the world.
Invest NI has offered £1.9m (€2.2m) of support towards the investment. Alison Curry, chief development officer at Invest NI, said the investment is really important for Northern Ireland and noted the strength of the local life and health sciences sector, underpinned by fantastic graduates coming from our universities.
The investment is aimed at improving Cirdan Imaging's laboratory information system with new features designed to set the company apart in an increasingly competitive global market for medical imaging and diagnostics software.
The announcement positions Cirdan Imaging as a growing player within Northern Ireland's life and health sciences sector, which Invest NI identifies as a high-priority area for regional economic development and inward investment.
The company's expansion comes amid broader momentum in Northern Ireland's life sciences cluster, which continues to attract investment in AI-driven diagnostics and health technology.
